An in-depth examination of the major historical events that occurred atIndependence Hall, Carpenters Hall, Congress Hall, and Franklin Court, among other park sites, as well as the founding fathers who shaped thoseevents.

An ideal companion for those who desire more than thebrief overviews presented in tourists guidebooks.

Lavishly illustratedwith prints from the INHP collections, the book is based on primarysource documents, including

– Journals of Congress;
– Records of thePennsylvania Assembly;
– contemporaneous newspaper accounts;
– the diariesand papers of such founding fathers as Benjamin Franklin, GeorgeWashington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson; and
– more-recentscholarship on early American history.

What distinguishes the book fromother similar works is that its an insiders account of the historythat took place in INHP, written by a former park ranger and nowvolunteer who holds a doctorate in early American history and taught thesubject for 35 years at the prep school, undergraduate, andgraduate levels.[AuthorName]By William C.
